3 years old and 6 months old...officially.

Miss Lena Kate is officially 3 years old.
Time does fly when you are having fun. This little girl of ours is a firecracker, there is no other way to put it. She keeps us on her toes with her bright ideas and wit. She is sweet and endearing, when she wants to be. She loves her family and friends so much. She loves to paint, her new babydoll from Granny, playing princess dress-up, and Pet Pals on her LeapPad (she still LOVES dogs of all kinds). She also loves to learn and read books, for this I am thankful. I want to record a few memorable things she has said and done lately.
First, she has really come out of her shell at children's time at church lately. You never know what she is going to say. Two Sundays ago, Pastor Patti was telling her story and right in the middle of it Lena Kate looks up at the large Christmas tree and declares, "LOOK, there is a fairy on top of the tree." Angel, Lena Kate, it is an angel!
Next story, I was changing Ainslee's diaper the other day and she asked me if I was going to put sugar on her hiney. Sugar??? Then I saw that she was staring at the powder. I think she has a future in the kitchen working with powdered sugar. Speaking of hineys...I asked Lena Kate if she hurt her hiney when she fell and she said, "No, I hurt my bottom."
Back to Christmas: She said that Santa was coming to see her and she was going to ride on his sleigh with him. I wish she could!
Every night she says her prayers and what started as praying for rain and for Ainslee, Tyler, and Cinco to be healthy has turned into praying for Cinco to have some rain, and for Tyler to have some rain and for Ainslee to be healthy. Hehe, it is kind of like the telephone game with herself.
We also laugh because EVERY time a football game is on she will say, "on your mark, get steady, go!" when each play starts. Do you like the combination of on your mark, get set, go and ready , set, go? Don't try to correct her, the girl knows what she is saying. She also thinks that every football game is the Gig'em Aggies. I like that :) She will randomly tell Lane, "GIG'EM AGGIES DAD!"
Christmas Eve Santa came to see her at Granny's house and after he left, she declared it THE BEST CHRISTMAS EVER.
I hope she never loses that zest for life and all things good. I love her personality, it just shines and shines. She is also a great big sister and loves Ainslee so much-and the love is mutual.

Speaking of little sister.
She is growing up on us. Where has the 6 months gone? We love our little sister so much. Ainslee is a precious, blue eyed, one dimpled darling that likes to scream at Mama when I put her down periodically throughout the day. She is fine sometimes, and others she will let me know she is NOT ok with the situation.
Her personality is starting to show as well. She is a sensitive girl and I love that she loves her Mama. She is petite at 13lbs 10 oz and 25.5 inches at 6 months. The girl is also on the move. If she is on carpet she can scoot/crawl wherever she is determined to get to. When she gets tired, she "swims" and starts to scream...again. She also likes to coo and talk when she is in a good mood. I love the sweet sound of her happy voice. I can't believe she is already on the move. She gets up on all fours, but doesn't crawl in that fashion yet, rather pushes herself along with her feet. She is a champion sitter, but often chooses to learn forward so she can move into "crawling" position. She is every starting to try to pull up on the coffee table-watch out world, how can it be?! She is finally eating cereal but doesn't just love it. She spit out the vegetables and fruit I tried, so I'm going to stick with cereal for a bit longer. Miss Ainslee likes to wake up several times a night still to eat which is wearing Mama out, which is why if it is after 4 am, she ends up in our bed. She doesn't like to go back to sleep sometimes and I'm so tired at that point, I lose my willpower. Oh well. I do like to snuggle with my bug and I guess I'll break that habit, eventually.
She is starting to share her smiles more and more these days and be a little more content playing on the floor with Lena Kate. If Lena Kate is playing her LeapPad, Ainslee will "crawl" over and start grabbing it. Of course, LK is none too thrilled about that! The baby has very grabby hands and wants everything that is not hers. She has also really taken notice of Missy lately. I think we may have another dog lover on our hands. Our sweet baby is growing up so fast, and I just pray that God protects her and her big sister always. I wish I could give them the world, but know having the world is not important, having love and Christian guidance is. I love them with all my heart and hope, pray and have faith that God helps me with the rest.

3 year old and 6 month old...almost

Pardon the lack of organization in this post, but Blogger and I are not friends right now.

My sweet family ready for church

Wow, things have been crazy at our house. I still haven't posted about our wonderful trip to San Angelo and Midland for Thanksgiving and I already have a big birthday party event to talk about!
We had Lena Kate's 3rd birthday party this past weekend, she will be 3 officially on the 19th. We had a fun little pink party with family and friends. The princess requested a chocolate cake with pink icing, so that is what she got! The sweet (most-of-the-time) girl got spoiled rotten. I must say she is really enjoying all of her new toys. She is rather fond of her new bike from Leelee and Paw. She rides it in circles through our house. The weather has been yucky, so inside it is-for now! Lena Kate such an entertainer. She loves to put on dance shows and play her new guitar. Her introduction line that she says into a microphone is, "a-hem. Ladies and gentlemen welcome to our dance show. Today is our dance show. Hit it!" It is so funny to watch. She has a funny accent that is 1/2 country and 1/2 Boston-ish. Examples: car - CAH, market, MAHKET. there - THE AIR. One syllable words have 3. She likes to run from monsters and the big bad wolf and well as playing chase with her cousin Charles. She loves to sing Jingle Bells. Lena Kate is very excited about Jesus' birthday and wants to "go to it" as well as to go see God. I got the girls a Fisher-Price Little People Nativity. She loves it and tells you about Ma-wee, Joseph, and Baby Jesus as well as the Wise Men. She told me the angel was a fairy at first, silly girl. We are enjoying her personality so much and can't wait to see what this next year brings to our smart little girl.
Here she is with her concentration face.
Miss Ainslee is almost 6 months old-where has the time gone! She is such a Mommy's girl and does not want me to put her down. She is a crier, yall! She likes to fake cough. Her hair is still a little crazy:) Ainslee loves to grab anything in sight and is a touchy girl. As I rock her to sleep (the only way she will go to sleep these days) she must reach up and grab my lip, nose, or stroke my chin. She will not take a bottle and pushes it away-good thing I can stick close to her. She wants food, but was not interested in cereal the few times I've tried to give it to her. I think she just wants to grab! She loves Missy and is very observant. Lane says she has anger management issues. The sweet thing can push up on all four and scoot around and I really don't think she is far from crawling. I'm hoping that will make her happier when she is on the floor if she can crawl around:)
We love these two girls so much and they love each other-what more could we ask for?! (a picture of them together would be nice, but not possible it seems)
We also had a fabulous Christmas with Lane's parents this weekend. We always enjoy their time here with us and the girls just love their Leelee and Paw. We went in to town for Smolik's BBQ on Friday night and were surprised that it was Christmas parade night. After we ate it was pefect timing for the parade, as small as it was. Lena Kate loved every minute of it and Miss Ainslee even stayed happy. Fun times in a small town abound.
Jam sessions with Paw-do you see the sweet Nativity on the table
And now for one of my favorite pictures of Lena Kate- pure joy!

Giving Thanks

Lena Kate calls Thanksgiving, Giving Thanks. She is correct and we should all be giving thanks to God. I am so thankful for my two precious girls and wonderful family, even after days like today that just wear me out. Ainslee cries LOUDLY when I put her down for anything. She is like a permanent hip attachment these days, and Lena Kate is just so full of energy and likes to test her limits. I have to say that although these times are trying they are also sooo very sweet and fleeting. I'm so blessed to be their Mommy and pray every day that they stay happy and healthy.

Today and everyday I'm thankful for:

dimples so deep you could fall in them (two on LK, one on Ainslee)

crazy hair

unexpected blue eyes

ducky jammied sleeping angels

almost 3 year old prayers with prayer hands and squinted shut eyes

princess shoes with a cowboy hat and a backpack and a medal

hugs and kisses from Daddy and the sweet way he pats LK when hugging her

gummy slobbery smiles

morning baby babble

an almost 3 yr old asking if the sun is up every morning

LK knowing that Christmas is Jesus' birthday

LK answering Pastor Patti's question about what she is thankful for with "FOOD!"...she is her Mama's child in that respect, she wants a snack every 5 minutes.

stinky baby feet

a child that thinks all baskets are hats

and more:

a snoring dog

a helping husband

fantastic friends

parents that are just a few country miles away

in-laws that love us all so much

a church family

crocheting fun

food to eat and a roof over our heads
the mercy grace and love of God

Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

What a fun Halloween we had! Lena Kate was all about the trick or treating this year. We went to church, Granny's (of course), Aunt Lorain and Uncle Ray's, the O'Brien's, and finished off at Mimi and Papa's and Aunt Lynne and Uncle Cassie were there for the big event too. I made Ainlsee's big bad wolf outfit-hat, tail, and leg warmers, and Lena Kate wore my old Little Red Riding Hood cape that Mom made me when I was about her age. Both girls were showered with love. Here are a few shots I got of them.
We got dressed up to go to HEB that morning too:)

The official costume-tail, and fun socks included!
