First Family Vacation to Rockport

Sorry if you've missed us, we've been on vacation and what a wonderful relaxing time we had.

We started off by dropping Missy off at Mimi and Papa's for the week, apparently she had a grand time barking at the kittens all week and spent 2 full hours barking at a turtle. She was limping immediately following that-we wonder if the turtle finally had enough of her barking. We had a full yet relaxing week. We stayed at Pelican Bay Resort. Don't be fooled, this isn't a resort like you would think. We had our own little New England style cottage. It is great to have a separate bedroom, living and kitchen and nice bathroom when you have a little one. Lena Kate like the tile floor and ran her walker all over the place. We spend many hours a day just reading on the porch watching as other guested mosied by. Lena Kate really enjoyed just watching everybody from the freedom of her walker. It rained on us several afternoons, but we didn't mind. Thunderstorms are great and the rain is needed down there.

I ran several morning along the bayfront. It was such a nice run along Fulton Beach Rd....very little traffic a nice breeze and pleasant mornings. We also took a few family walks. Lena Kate likes to sleep in her stroller.

We also visited the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge and although it rained on us most of the time so we didn't get to get out and see the gators. We did however see deer, turkey, and a few birds...one which was chillin on the deer's head...funny sight, too bad it was too far to get a good pic. On Tuesday, we drove over to Corpus to the USS Lexington and Texas State Aquarium. Lena Kate was a trouper the whole morning...what a gal we have. I "wore" her in the Baby Bjorn on the Lady Lex since it isn't stroller friendly with all the ladders and such to go between levels. It is a great museum and something to see if you go to CC. The Aquarium was fun too. I could watch fish all day. We got to see the sea turtles being fed as well. We stopped at Blackbeard's for lunch on our way home....more shrimp - yum.

Mimi and Papa came up on Wednesday and took us to lunch at the Key Allegro marina restaurant Paradise Key...yes, you guessed it more shrimp! Then we headed downtown for shopping and ice cream after the torrential downpour let up. Our final outing was to Port Aransas to introduce Lena Kate to the beach. She did great and dangled her feet in the water a bit with Daddy. Lane LOVES the beach and got to swim for quite awhile. He also was a few feet from either a dolphin or shark..he didn't stick around to find out. The beach was really clean and the weather was great. The pool had been heated for the Memorial Day weekend and we took Lena Kate swimming several days during the week. She really enjoys the water and got to sport her new ladybug suit, cover-up, shoes and hat from my sweet friends Fieby and Teri. She was soo cute in them..I'm sure you will agree.

We ate out once a day and had our fill of fresh seafood. We also hit up the Chili's and even Taco Bell for lunch one day for a change. We had a great week just enjoying each other and our sweet angel baby. She was just perfect the whole week, even during our nightly dinners out. If she got fussy, I just got her out of her seat and she would sit in my lap just as happy as can be. She ate her dinners on the porch which was usually followed by a bath in the sink. It was perfect for her to splash around in. Unfortunately we had to pack up ALL of our stuff and head back. We stayed in Mathis Friday night to attend my cousin Robert's high school graduation and dinner at his house. It was nice to be able to attend and Lena Kate was once again a party animal and still happy at 10:30 pm when we headed over the hill to Mimi and Papa's for bedtime. I think the late night was harder on Lane and I than her!

5 Months!

Lena Kate is 5 months old today-I can't believe how time flies. Every day our bond grows as well as the love for my dear daughter in my heart. She is aware of EVERYTHING going on and loves her Missy dog. Eating veggies, cereal, and fruit are daily battles. Actually she does great until she is tired of it...enter whining. Then we usually just start the clean-up! The girl can move too, she rolls all over the living room. I really think she will be crawling soon. She loves when her Daddy comes home and rescues her from Mommy who has usually put her in her walker so I can cook dinner. She actually really likes it, but after awhile it gets old. Daddy sweeps in and picks her up and she just grins and grins at him. Lena Kate reaches and grabs anything in her path-ears, glasses, cameras. etc. Have I mentioned she can talk? Boy, can she talk. We don't know what she is saying, but she says it with authority:)

My favorite moments of all time with her are at night when we are rocking or she is nursing and getting ready for bed she reaches up with her sweet little hand and feels my mouth and face so softly. She just rubs her hand back and forth. I can just feel the love she has for her Mommy. I sure hope it always stays that way!

We had a 5 month photoshoot this morning, here are the results.
