This and That

We've had a normal week o' fun around here just messin around. Here are a few highlights...and random pics

Most country kids have a pic like this. Lena Kate loves all things "boos" AKA boots, especially Dada's. She tries to put them on herself but has a little trouble. This was right after her bath...hence the diaper and crazy hair.

A wall helps keep steady

Drinking out of the waterhose while working in the church flowerbeds this week. Every kid has done this too, right? I used to not think twice about it...but I had a little "ewwww" thought when she did this. I guess it is good for her immune system, right?

A cute friend stopped by. This is Brennan...he's got the prettiest blue eyes and precious curls!

Before going to work at the church. Before we were all said and done she had soaked herself with the waterhose and had tons of fun...fortunately I anticipated this happen and packed an extra outfit.

We do lots of reading every day around here.
Goofin off!!

Sweet smile :)

Isn't she precious!!!
We had a nice week and hope you did too :0) May God bless you and keep you!

Rockport Take 2

Home again, home again, jiggety jig!

Before we were home again, we were gone again, back to Rockport, that is. We spent most of the week with Mimi and Papa during their last week at the condo. It was too windy to fish so we played, ate out, hit a few tennis balls, and swam. Lena Kate had tons of fun. We also took a trip over to the Corpus aquarium. It was a hit for all. I got a season pass so we hope to return often this summer.

bright-eyed, but ready for bed with a little crazy hair as a result of the ponytail that day.

sometimes she prefers to push her car rather than ride.

Enjoying the fish

Hey Mama, take my picture

The big ones didn't bother her at all
Not even this guy!

Look Mama, fishies!

One more time

This animal eyed Lena Kate...we were very close (front row)

Enjoying the bird show (and other animals)

snacking on some fishies, how appropriate!

Out to dinner
Lena Kate was a hit everywhere we went. A nice gentleman brought her some beads one night and at lunch another man brought her a tank top since he thought she was the cutest girl in the restaurant that day. They were both very sweet and I don't think we can deny that we have ourselves a standout cutie! Daddy better start getting ready for those teenage years now. Her new trick is winking. It is a double long blink followed by an eye roll. Papa just LOVES it. He asks her to wink at him ALL the time....so fun.
This week we are relaxing at home. We did go up to the church and work in the flower beds...hard work, but a wonderful group of ladies, and hard working ladies, I might add! Lena Kate played with the water hose and was soon soaked. She also enjoyed drinking from the hose. I guess we all enjoyed that at some point in our lives. She chased that with about 1/2 of Mimi's fresh lime slush. I don't know how she didn't get a brain freeze as much and as fast as she was drinking it. I took a picture or two and will post those soon.
Yall have a great weekend! We plan on working around the house and I'm hoping to get a new gas grill. We haven't had one since our move and I'm sure missing it! Summertime = BBQ. We also need to get our big smoker, but it is at Mom and Dad's and Lane's gotta have some muscles to help with that big thing. We'll get it eventually, I guess.

A little behind

I'm a little behind with my blogging, so we are going to take a little trip back in time...a whole week! The weekend before last we packed up and headed to San Antonio for a visit with Leelee and Grandpa as well as Uncle Trent and Aunt Nancy. It was so nice to see the family as a family. Lane hadn't been able to see them in quite awhile since he'd been busy working tons of hours during tax season. Of course, the star of the show was Lena Kate. We met them all at the hotel and spent the day chasing Lena Kate and visiting over lunch and drinks. Later that evening we headed over to La Canterra for dinner and possibly a pair of sunglasses. Lane needs to get a new pair, but we had quite the experience with a loud couple demanding their money back with a very fishy story. The sad part of it all was that they were setting a horrible example for their teenage daughter that was with them. I'm glad Lena Kate was too young to understand. Nancy took her out of the store and we all ended up leaving without a possible purchase due to the scene. I pray that this couple realizes how wrong their behavior was. On a happier note we had a great dinner at Yard House and it was nice to spend time together. We miss our weekend get-togethers and I'm sure they do to. Sunday morning we woke up to a yummy breakfast fixed by Nancy....and I think Trent supervised:) It was a lovely Mother's Day treat for me. Lena Kate got me a cute card...funny thing was that it was in Spanish-haha. I understood it after a little bit of studying. It was a wonderful weekend and I'm so thankful for such wonderful family and the memories made.
Grandpa grins for Lena Kate

Splashing in the fountain was LK's favorite thing to do
So tired she laid out a napkin for a pillow and took a chill on the hotel floor, where was her mother?! (she missed the napkin)

Have a blessed week!

Mother's Day

My dearest Lena Kate,
I am so blessed to be your mother. I always knew I wanted to be a mother, but could have never dreamed how deep the love for my child would be. To be your mother every day is the greatest gift I could ever ask for. I catch myself so often just staring at you and trying to treasure the moment knowing sadly that I might not remember that very moment of affection and wanting so much to be able to remember every little detail of you at every age. We have so many sweet moments every day. This afternoon after your nap you crawled up in my lap in Daddy's recliner and brought me your current favorite book "Love You Forever." I can hardly read that book without tearing up. You were so cuddly and about once a page you would just look up at me and smile so sweetly into my eyes. Words cannot express the joy in my heart. My cup runneth over. These moments I will always hold dear. Tonight while Daddy and I had dinner you sat at your table sipping tea and just jabbered and sang to hear your own voice and cracked both Dada and I up. This moment I hope to treasure as well. You see, I could list several other cute things you did, just today. Being Mother's Day today I focused on how blessed and fortunate I am to have you in my life and shedding so much light each and every day. You literally light up my life. Mother's Day is to honor mothers and all they do, but I feel honored every day to call myself your mother. That is the best title I've ever had. I don't feel quite right when you are not right by my side. Now I understand why mothers cry on their child's first day of school. Lena Kate you are growing up so fast. I long for the days when we napped on the couch together, I long for yesterday, and yet, I long for what tomorrow will bring. That being said, I hope I'm able to treasure today, and every day I spend with you. My sweet angel baby, thank you for all the precious moments, today and always. I am so very proud of you.
I also want to thank God for my wonderful mother. Without her guidance and teachings I wouldn't be the mother I am today. I have much to live up to. I want to honor her today and all that she's done for me in my life and continues to do for me(us) every day. My mother is one of the most genuine, thoughtful, and giving ladies you will ever meet. Thank you, Mom, for the example you have set for me and my daughter. May we always make you proud!
Mom and Granny

I also had what I know will be a treasured memory with my sweet Granny this week. We took a fun trip to Beeville together. We made the rounds at Walmart and Granny got Lena Kate a couple of fun outfits and then we stopped for a treat at Dairy Queen on the way home. I love how something so simple can create such a memory. When she sees Lena Kate her eyes just light up and you can tell that Lena Kate is just the light of her life as well. I'm so thankful we were able to move down south so we can spend more time with her as she is getting older. She will be 89 this year and I pray we have many more quality years with her. Happy Mother's Day to you Granny!

Good ol Country Hitchin

Today is our 4th wedding anniversary. I thought about writing up a sappy post about how much I love Lane and how blessed I am, but I think you've all heard it before. In short, 4 years ago today I married my lobster, yes, my lifelong soul mate. I hope to be rocking in our rocking chairs on a front porch together many many years from now. The day was perfect-a small town wedding surrounded by people that love us and wanted to wish us well. So much has happened in the last 4 years and so much of it is wonderful:) Ok, now rather than go on and on about us, I'm going to share with you some pictures from one of my best friend's wedding 2 weekends ago. Monica and I grew up together and the memories abound. I'm so excited that we have stayed friends and I couldn't be more excited that she found her soul mate as well. She and Cody make a great couple and are obviously very much in love and a great pair. Congrats to the happy couple and I hope they live happily every after! I have the same wish for Lane and I:)
LK getting a ride in before the wedding :)
The beautiful bride and her dad just before the big event
Lena Kate had tons of fun running around, she "found" a daisy.
She also hijacked a cart of flowers and was pushing it around the dance floor as fast as possible. I can say that the groom's nephew did it first, so she wasn't the instigator-ha!
Lena Kate had a great time at the wedding as did we :)

Rockport Fun

Lena Kate and I went over to Rockport on Tuesday with Mimi and Papa and then Lane met us Thusday afternoon for a long weekend. We had tons of fun playing tennis, swimming, a little shopping, lots of eating, fishing, and even a date night! This Thursday is our 4th Anniversary and we decided to take advantage of the grandparents and go out to the Key Allegro Marina and have dinner and enjoy the live music.
Sitting out in front of the Art Museum. Yes, I do have a doggie backpack harness...aka leash. I said I would never put my child on one of these....but I digressed. She gets away very quickly and loves to run and walk rather than be in the stroller. This keeps her in check and I like it...and she likes her doggie, so there:)
Having dinner at the marina with the family. She wanted to dress up for the ocassion so pearls were in order.
Checking out the fish at the Rockport Aquarium. She enjoyed this!
On Sunday LK's Papa got us a fishing guide and off we went. I think it is only fitting that Dad caught the biggest fish! Here he is with one of his 2 BIG catches.
Not the best picture, but hte pelicans were fun to watch.
I love seagulls...as long as they don't poo on my head!
Papa's other catch..that is our guide holding it for Papa. It is a black drum.
Here is Lane and I with Robert and our haul for the day. Overall it was a super fun day and we came home with dinner! Thanks Dad for taking us and thanks Mimi for entertaining Lena Kate so we could fish! I know she had a super fun day shopping at Walmart and eating at Dairy Queen. That girl loves some DQ ice cream!
I found Lena Kate a tent with a tunnel to play in. Here she is testing out the tunnel. She's not sure it is her favorite toy yet, but I know she'll enjoy it soon enough :)
I hope your weekend was as fabulous as ours was, it kinda made me wish I had the bay and a pier out our back door all the time!...not to mention the tennis court about 10 yards from the condo door. We hit the ball around enough for us all to be sore. I love playing tennis, and hope we can play more often.
Thanks again Mom and Dad for having us, we had a great getaway and can't wait to do it again!!!
