Another weekend come and gone

We had another nice weekend here in the Wonderful World of Lena Kate. I'll touch on the highlights. We made fried pickles and homemade ranch dressing on Friday night to go with our venison and grilled squash dinner. Yes, fried pickles are a highlight for sure. They turned out great and the recipe is posted over here: Eating with Elaine which is my recipe blog. We spent lots of time just chasing the little girl around our house. She is crawling everywhere, of course, but she now pulls up on ANYTHING she possibly can. She is a little monkey, for sure. She even stood for a few seconds without holding on. She is good until she wiggles and loses balance.

Let me backtrack a little....I'm in a bit of a haze this morning since Lena Kate thinks that 2-4am is time to roll around in her crib and NOT go to sleep. Oh, she pretends to, then I make my Mommy exit when she proceeds to look up realize I'm not there and pull herself up in her crib and cry until I show up...over and over and over and over again. Now, back to Friday. Friday was such a fun day for us. Lena Kate and I baked cookies for her Aunt Nancy in the morning. Then we went to lunch with old work friends for Patsy's birthday at Chester's. Nothing like a good ol' burger and onion rings! Then we met Rachel and David for some birthday ice cream. Rachel birthday was on Wednesday so we celebrated a little late with Marble Slab cups and nice conversation and goo-gooing over our babes. Then I arrived home to find 2 dozen roses from my husband. What a sweetie! The are beautiful and I think it is so sweet that he does this for me on occasion. I'm pretty sure he thinks that flowers just die, but I'm argued many times that the memory lasts forever. I think he may understand now:) They are a beautiful combination of yellow, white, red and lavender. Thanks again Lane! Through all the festivities Lena Kate was a good girl...it is only at night that she likes to give me fits. Lane and I had a nice dinner at home and stayed up too late just hanging out after the little one was asleep.

Now, fast-forward back to Sunday afternoon. We had an old friend of mine Jeff, his wife Jasmin and sweet boy Jack come over for what was supposed to be Nascar watching and fajitas. Well, the race was rain-delayed until today. This was not a problem we had lots of great conversation and a nice early dinner. There son Jack is a cutie-he's 19 months old and has the cutest CURLY blond hair. Lena Kate enjoyed watching him play-as she does all older children. Unfortunately, I was a goof and didn't get any pictures.

Here are a few random shots from our weekend.
My roses-Day 1 Lane uses Proflowers so I have to arrange them....which you can tell I'm not good at, but I think they are beautiful anyway they are arranged!

Girl, I feel you on the ol' getting up at night stuff. If Quade ever slept through the night, I'm pretty sure I'd think I died and went to heaven...Ohhh well, one day, right? Those roses are beautiful, and I love LK's John Deere stuff, too cute! Girls are just so stinkin' fun to dress! Oh, and by the way, I'm still drooling over that shrimp you posted on your recipe blog. :)
