On a whim Lena Kate and I decided to head to San Angelo to spend the weekend with Lane's parents for Mother's Day. I knew we were going to be in Mathis next weekend and might not see Leelee and Grandpa as well as Lane's extended family for awhile. Lane was going to work cattle for an all boy's weekend so we were going to be on our own anyway. I'm so glad I had that last minute thought...not sure why I didn't have it sooner. We had a great time visiting with Lena Kate's grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Saturday was a relaxing day. I went for a nice run in the neighborhood. It was a good thing because I had eaten too much cream cheese braid which I baked on Friday. They were very good and my first attempt at baking with yeast. Success! It was cool out still on my run, but humid and Leelee and LK had some bonding time while I was gone. Grandpa was going to play golf. I must say I think Grandpa really loves that baby girl. I can honestly say he had his hands on her more than Leelee did. It was quite gracious of her to share:) She did manage to step in when she just couldn't take it anymore. Lena Kate is so blessed to have a family that loves her so much! On Saturday night we went to see LK's cousins Jess and Annabelle perform in a church fundraiser production similar to the Laugh In. They were great and we had a nice dinner and enjoyed ourselves. We did have to sneak out at 9:15 since baby girl decided she'd had enough and was hungry. I don't blame her. It was late for all of us. I think the steaks set everything back. They were yummy, but probably could've saved a few minutes by taking them off the grill a few minutes earlier. I've learned to love a good medium rare steak. Is there any other way? On Sunday we relaxed on the front porch until it was time to head to the ranch. Lena Kate was a good girl and showed off her newly found voice.
It was a wonderful first Mother's Day. Lena Kate borrowed some $$ from Daddy and got me a pretty necklace with silver and freshwater pearl pendant. It symbolizes a mother's embrace of her children. Oh how I love to embrace my baby girl, so of course, I love the sweet necklace and thoughtful gift from Lena Kate and her Daddy on my first Mother's Day.
This morning she woke up around 6 and was a bit cranky. I sure hope she isn't getting my cold. Maybe she just wanted to wake up and play...hopefully (fingers crossed). She was already down for the count again by 7:45. I'm guessing it'll be a good nap since she was up earlier than usual, which is why you are getting the pleasure of this post! I hope you all have a good week. We have a busy one planned already and next weekend I run in the Beach to Bay Marathon Relay in Corpus Christi. I'm ready, or at least think I'm ready.

Grandpa loves his girl

Lena Kate had an audience of her own. This little guy asked Great Kelley if she was a puppet since she was holding her under her dress. Kids say the darnedest things!

She loves her Missy dog

Flying with Great Kelley-the girl likes to fly

We had a fun play date swimming at Bethany's pool last week. Lena Kate enjoyed the cool water. Here she is posing in her bathing suit. This weekend my sweet friends also got her a new suit. I can't wait to put on her. It is all ladybugs and a 2-piece (a conservative one, of course) It has a ladybug cover-up, hat, and shoes that all match - SO CUTE! This sweet suit was a gift from my cousins Anna and Joyce and their families, as well as Uncle Creed. She also got a precious doll and beautiful dress from them. I think this pic is cute because it looks like she has cleavage, wait..I guess she does..aaah!..but it is just sweet baby cleavage so it is ok :)

Cousin Charles came to swim too. He just loves his Baby Kate. She loves him too!

Awwww, I love my brown-eyed girl

Her Derby Hat which happens to match her suit-yea.
